Our concrete finishing services include power floating, easy floating and brushed finish. Power floating is a process that uses a machine with rotating diamond-tipped blades to create a smooth, level surface on the concrete. Easy floating is a process that uses a machine with a rotating brush or pad to create a smooth and level surface on the concrete. Brushed finish is a process that uses a broom or brush to create a non-slip surface on the concrete. These methods are used to create a smooth and level surface that is ready for final finishing and polishing.

Structures

Touchwood House

This residential project delivered over 600sqm of liveable space spread across a waterproof basement, ground floor, balconies and internal swimming pool.
All surfaces were carefully crafted to feature the intricate wood grain pattern specified by the Architect to achieve this ultra high-end finish to the exposed concrete surfaces.
With the majority of the structure being underground, the humble view from the road at this hidden away address belies the enormity of the structure and the complexity of the construction.

Basements

Bolney

Bolney House features a straight-forward waterproof concrete construction but on a grand scale.
Over 400sqm of basement with 80m of perimeter retaining walls up to 3.5m in height. This project was delivered on an accelerated programme to suit the Clients ambitious targets.
As with all our basements the work was approved by the relevant building control and waterproofing inspectors and was handed over with our standard 12year Waterproof Warranty.

Walls

Portsea Sea Defence

Lion , in Partnership with our Client, is currently delivering over 1.6km of concrete seawall defences over 2years.
The walls themselves are cast in sections up to 4m high and will raise the coastal defence on the east side of Portsea by ~1.5m.
Stringent quality controls are required by the ultimate Client with tolerances down to the millimetre.
The work is partly carried out in a tidal working pattern and partly behind Europe’s largest portable dam.

Capping Beams

Greenhithe Kent

The primary focus of our business is to deliver reinforced concrete structures wherever they are needed.
This particular project was for a series of capping beams, pile caps, bridge piers and abutments which formed part of the wider landscaping works at a large housing development in Kent.
We have delivered works in excess of £1m on these landscaping structures at this one development alone.

Roads and Highways

Roughs Farm

At our Roughs Farm Development Project, Lion was employed to undertake site clearance of historic farmland and brownfield, followed by the construction of a new light industrial centre near Guildford. This included: site clearance, piling, buried services, RC slabs, steel frames, tarmac and streetworks to form access roads and parking.

LCL worked closely with the Client to steer a diverse group of design, construction and public authority professionals to the common goal of delivering this project to time and budget.

Structural Alterations

Morley Street

At our Morley Street Project in Brighton, Lion was employed on a build only contract to undertake the complete structural refurb of this well known building.

This included underpinning and lowering the lower ground floor to create a usable basement level, complete demolition of stairwells and walls, recasting new concrete stairwells, building new blockwork partitions and lift shafts, erecting an additional storey on top of the structure using a steel frame and concrete slab, then finally the complete roofing, cladding and glazing of the new structure.
The work was carried out progressively over 18months to deliver a completely renovated structure fit for the Client to put into new use.
